👀 Solana Launches Testing for Major Alpenglow Consensus Protocol Update 🔹 Solana ecosystem developer Anza has announced the launch of the Alpenglow consensus protocol update on the community test cluster. This is the most significant architectural overhaul in the blockchain's history. 🔹 The tests allow independent validators to run the new consensus mechanism in real-world conditions for the first time. Previously, internal testing was limited to a small number of nodes. 🔹 The company stated that Alpenglow will replace two key components of Solana’s current architecture: the TowerBFT voting mechanism and the Proof-of-History (PoH) system. 🔹 The new model is built on the Votor and Rotor protocols. Developers aim to reduce transaction finality time from 12.8 seconds to 150 milliseconds. 🔹 In other words, this represents a nearly 100-fold speed increase in operation processing.
