Since September 2022 Ethereum has run on Proof-of-Stake: instead of miners, blocks are confirmed by validators who have locked (staked) ETH. A new block is produced roughly every 12 seconds. Part of each fee is burned, so during periods of high activity the ETH supply can even shrink.
